O subversion é bem parecido com o CVS...

# svn checkout http://svn.digium.com/svn/asterisk/trunk asterisk
# svn checkout http://svn.digium.com/svn/zaptel/trunk zaptel
# svn checkout http://svn.digium.com/svn/libpri/trunk libpri

para atualizar, segue o mesmo padrão do CVS...

# svn update


OBS: é necessário ter o SubVersion instalado. não sei quanto as outras 
distros, mas o Slackware 10.2 já vem com o subversion...
