I find that if you have a control group of  monks and the  tech that allows only one to  run out of  faith with a group  converts. Then you can  convert a target with the entire group, control  click  a monk icon to deselect one and then click another target with the remainder of the group.

This makes the micro fairly easy and if your  fast enough / don't have  a  dumb amount of monks  then you  can do  it without have the tech  researched. The  tech merely provides a nice fall  back so  your entire  group doesn't accidentally run out of  faith on a single target.
